Just Eat Photo Requirements for UK Partners

The current Just Eat UK page gives ratios but no pixel size. Its last published pixel guide, from 2024, set a 1024 x 768 minimum and said the bigger, the better. Here are both, with dates.

  • Dish photos 4:3 landscape, header photos 2:1
  • The 2024 pixel minimums next to the current rules
  • Content rules, rejection reasons and upload steps

The short version

Dish photos: 4:3 landscape, filling the frame, with no borders. Send them as large as you can. The 2024 minimum was 1024 x 768 pixels.

Header photos: 2:1 landscape. Show your best dishes and fill the space.

The usual problem: a crowded plate or a crop that is zoomed in too far. Show only the listed item, whole and centered.

Current rules from the Just Eat UK partner info page, updated 1 September 2026. The 2024 numbers come from an archived copy of the Just Eat photography guide from September 2024. That guide is no longer online, so treat its numbers as the last ones published.

The header ratio changed from 3:2 to 2:1

The 2024 guide asked for 3:2 header photos of at least 2130 x 1420 pixels.

The current page, updated in September 2026, asks for 2:1 landscape headers. It gives no pixel size.

Use 2:1 now. Fill the space and show your popular dishes. Text is allowed if it is legible, simple and not distracting.

Just Eat content rules

Current UK page

  • Use a good camera. Make sure the photo is well lit and in focus.
  • Make the food look fresh and ready, prepared as served, in its takeaway container or on a plate.
  • Use photos you own.
  • Do not include people or hands.
  • Do not stretch or rotate the image.
  • Show the product exactly as it is served or sold.
  • Fill the frame at 4:3 landscape, with no borders.
  • Do not put text over the dish or item.
  • Keep logos to a minimum.

Extra advice from the 2024 guide

  • Put the dish in the center, in natural daylight, on a clear background that stays the same across all photos.
  • Do not overcrowd the plate. Prepare only the listed portion, in the smallest size.
  • Shoot flat food from directly above, drinks and burgers straight on, and other dishes at 45 degrees.
  • Name each file with the exact menu item name, with no spaces or special characters.

The Just Eat Ireland page adds one more rule: do not use AI-generated images.

Rejection reasons and fixes

The 2024 guide said Just Eat emails you when it rejects a photo. You then retake and upload it again. These are the problems it named.

Messy or crowded header

The 2024 guide said messy, crowded header photos with poor lighting are rejected automatically. Use a clean surface and good light.

Zoomed in too far

Pull back so the whole dish shows. Keep a small margin inside the 4:3 frame.

Extra items in the photo

Show only the listed item. Move sides and drinks out of the frame unless they come with it.

Plate too big for the frame

Use a plate that fits the 4:3 frame, so the food fills the photo.

People or hands

Crop them out. If the crop cuts into the dish, take a new photo of the food alone.

Text over the dish

Remove captions, prices and badges. Keep that information in the menu fields.

Edit a photo when it is sharp and only the light or crop is wrong. Reshoot it when the plate is crowded, the photo is blurry, or the dish does not fill a 4:3 frame.

Keep a set of large landscape originals that your restaurant owns. Crop a fresh copy for each app instead of reusing one export everywhere.

Selling on Deliveroo too? Deliveroo crops item photos to a square. See the Deliveroo photo requirements, and compare every app in the delivery platform photo requirements table.
