The short version

The specs: dish photos 1000 x 731 pixels, cover photos 1440 x 1053 pixels, JPG, under 1 MB. These are the foodpanda Taiwan numbers.

Other markets: foodpanda publishes no pixel size outside Taiwan. Use the Taiwan sizes and follow the same landscape rules.

The usual problem: the dish touches the edge of the frame, so the fixed app template cuts it off. Center the dish and leave space on every side.

foodpanda cover photo size

foodpanda Taiwan sets the dish photo at 1000 x 731 pixels and the cover photo at 1440 x 1053 pixels, both as JPG files under 1 MB, and other foodpanda markets publish no number.

Both sizes are landscape. They share the same shape, about 1.37 to 1. So one landscape crop can serve both.

foodpanda Taiwan advises shooting cover photos from directly above (90 degrees). A top-down spread of several dishes reads well at this shape.

foodpanda content rules

These rules come from the foodpanda Taiwan vendor guide.

  • Shoot in landscape.
  • Put the dish in the center of the frame.
  • Leave plenty of space around the dish. The app crops photos to a fixed template.
  • Use one plain background, such as wood, stone or marble. Use the same background for every photo.
  • Pick a plate color that differs from the background. Avoid pure white and pure black backgrounds.
  • Use soft, natural side light. Avoid direct fluorescent light. A reflector softens the shadows.
  • Shoot tall items such as burgers, sandwiches and drinks straight on (0 degrees).
  • Shoot other dishes at 45 degrees.
  • Shoot cover photos from directly above (90 degrees).

Banned content and how to fix it

foodpanda Taiwan bans the items below. It says the system removes photos that break the rules automatically.

Watermarks

Remove watermarks and photographer marks. Export a clean copy from the original file.

Hands or body parts

Crop hands and arms out of the frame. If the crop cuts into the dish, take a new photo of the food alone.

Blurry photo

Hold the phone steady and tap the food to focus. Editing cannot add detail the camera did not capture.

A dish you do not sell

Photograph the exact item on your menu. Replace the photo when the recipe or plating changes.

Collages

Use one photo per item. Do not join several photos into one image.

Contact details

Remove phone numbers, social media handles and other contact details from the photo.

Too much text

Keep any added text to 20% of the dish photo or less. A photo with no text is the simple choice.

Menu item edits can also be rejected. This happens when the item is not on your uploaded dine-in menu, already exists, or contains unrelated details such as a Facebook page.

Edit the photo when it is sharp and only the light, background or crop is wrong. Reshoot it when it is blurry, shows hands, or the dish touches the edge of the frame.

How to upload a foodpanda dish photo

These are the foodpanda Taiwan steps.

  1. Log in to the foodpanda vendor portal.
  2. Open Menu management.
  3. Pick the item.
  4. Click Upload dish photo.
  5. Adjust or crop the photo. Keep the item centered with space on every side.
  6. Confirm, then wait about 24 hours for the system review.

In Malaysia, Pakistan and Bangladesh you upload menus and dish photos in the panda partner portal. foodpanda Malaysia says new partner approval typically takes 2 to 5 working days.

Free foodpanda photography

foodpanda Taiwan runs free shoots. You book one through its official LINE account. A photographer phones you 1 to 2 working days after you book.

foodpanda keeps the copyright to those photos. You may not use them on competing platforms unless you bought a paid shoot package. The paid package is only for merchants already live on foodpanda.

Photos from a free shoot can be shared across your branches. If you ask for the original files, foodpanda emails them within 3 working days of your request form.

We found no official free photo offer for other foodpanda markets.

One photo set, every platform

Keep a set of large landscape originals that your restaurant owns. Crop a fresh copy for each app instead of reusing one export everywhere.

Many foodpanda markets overlap with Grab. GrabFood wants square item photos, so check the GrabFood photo requirements before you crop. Compare every app in the delivery platform photo requirements table.

Want to test a file before you upload? Run it through the free photo requirements checker.
